Muscle Activation Techniques (MAT) Homepage
Muscle Activation Techniques (MAT) is a revolutionary new neuro-muscular bodywork method. While the traditional approach to painful imbalance which says "stretch what's tight, strengthen what's weak," MAT approaches painful tightness as a protective muscle guarding against lack of control.
Just like whenever you walk on ice, and your whole body tenses up.
I'm looking for that protective muscle guarding in bodily joints. Using range of motion and muscle strength tests to find imbalances. Then use hands-on palpations to stimulate, or jumpstart, the underactive muscles that take you into that position or movement. This renews your body's sense of safety by restoring muscle control. Giving the same relaxation and flexibility you feel when you step off the ice.
Clients noticed after a few sessions how much better they move.

Active Release Techniques (ART) Homepage
A form of Myofascial Release, Active Release Techniques (ART) relieves scar-tissue adhesions between muscles, tendons, and ligaments and fibrotic
I use hands-on palpations to assess soft-tissue (muscles, tendons and ligaments, fascia) for scar-tissue adhesions and fibrosis. Once found, they are broken up by applying a pressure to it while the client actively stretches.
Clients report a "hurts so good" feeling, as the muscles and ligaments go from feeling like ropes to rubber bands as motion frees up and you instantly gain more flexibility.
This has been found particularly effective with Hands and Feet.

The only non hands-on technique I use, but just as non-invasive, the NXPro machine. It is interactive neuromuscular stimulation technology that uses pads to stimulate contractions in underactive muscles during rehab and training. These sensations teach the brain the signal to activate underactive muscle tissue, opening neural pathways, eventually rewiring the brain so it won't need the machine all the time.
Rather than cheating, think of it as multiplying results.
Additionally, for wellness-seekers, this versatile machine stimulates the rest and relaxation components of with your nervous system to lower stress and increase sleep.

What makes me Different
Whereas traditional rehab/ treatment approach says "stretch what's tight, strengthen what's weak," I view the source of painful tightness as a protective response to uncontrol.
Just like when you walk on ice, your entire body tenses up to protect you against the uncertainty of the ice.
I apply hands-on, customized techniques listed below to address the underlying source. Giving the body the same safety and relaxation felt when you step off the ice onto solid ground.

Square One System improves how your brain responds to stress
Unlike MAT, which addresses only nervous system dysfunction involving muscle control, Square One works with all aspects of your nervous system (the body's software).
Every microsecond, your brain (the body's command center) generates body responses based on input from sensors throughout the body. Including your vision, balance sensors in your inner ear, and the spatial awareness sensors in your muscle fibers. Your brain integrates all these different stimuli into one single outlook.
When these sensory signals become mismatched or unclear, your body will sense danger which triggers protective tightness. This tightness, when constantly stressed, becomes painful. Even if the no actual threat.
Square One uses neuro-response tests to find movements and positions your body perceives as threats. Then resets the nervous system (like rebooting software) to original settings to what it was before it perceived the non-dangerous stretch or movement as a threat.
